Teaching pupils at Year 4.
Teaching pupils at Year 4how to draw is really important because it is at this age that pupils begin to want to draw realistically. Before this stage in their development they use the Symbol System to draw, which is using symbols from memory to represent people, places and things. Lesson 5: Tone
Five weeks into the term and my Yr4 pupils have completed five lessons specifically aimed at helping them learn to draw. Tone is the area between light and dark and is one of the main elements to learn.
Five Main Elements
Shape, Line, Light and Dark, Tone and Colour are the five main elements taught to Yr4 in Teach Your Class To Draw. If every drawing contains the five main elements then progress will be made.
